We stayed at Mali Lošinj today. Apparently one of our neighbours had sailed from Pula during the storm and the waves had been up over the decks – I’m glad we hadn’t been out in that.

As we were going to be stuck here all day our tour director had arranged for us to visit the local museum dedicated to the Croatian Apoxyomenos. This is a bronze statue from the 1st or 2nd century BC which depicts a Grecian athlete scraping sweat and dust from his body with the small curved instrument called a strigil. The statue was discovered underwater in the Lošinj archipelago and is believed to be from a Roman shipwreck, although there are no other apparent remnants.

It was a really good museum with a lot of information, Mum and I wouldn’t have gone in on our own but we’re glad we got the opportunity to visit!

The weather, although cool, was better this afternoon. Dry at least! Mum and I decided to walk over to the other side of the island where there is a coastal walk that goes through the forest. It was a nice walk, apart from the hill!
